Liam Neeson Cut from 'Hangover 2'

Liam Neeson Cut from 'Hangover 2'

It looks like Liam Neeson has ended up on the cutting room floor. The actor, who was originally called in to replace Mel Gibson in The Hangover 2, had to be cut from the film after scheduling conflicts prohibited him from taking part in necessary reshoots.

Actor Nick Cassavetes was hired to take over Neeson's role as the Bangkok tattoo artist, but director Todd Phillips told Variety the recast was absolutely nothing personal against Neeson.

"We were in a complete time crunch, so I called Nick (Cassavetes) and asked if he would do the part," Phillips told Variety. "He came in and crushed it, and that is the scene that you will ultimately see in the film."

Neeson is currently in London filming the sequel to Clash of the Titans, which prevented him from completing the buddy comedy. But it seems that Cassavetes was the perfect man for the job.

"It turned out great," Phillips said.

The Hangover 2 will begin causing headaches in theaters on May 26.
